Word on the street
Our cameras took to the streets of east London, the new home of the ArcelorMittal Orbit, to ask visitors and residents what they think of London’s latest landmark.
The answers reveal that it has divided opinion, captured the imagination and, above all, got people thinking.
“It keeps your mind working and wondering… what the hell is it?”
Whether the ArcelorMittal Orbit is a “helter-skelter”, a “water slide”, a “crane”, a “giant messy puzzle” or an “enigma”, it has one overriding ambition – “to make people happy”.
But what is it for?
“Nothing. It’s art.”
